Water for Tomorrow is pleased to offer rebates to multi-unit residential building owners and property managers in York Region on the purchase of eligible, water-efficient toilets.gravity fed toilet

The rebate program offers:

  • $75 per eligible water efficient toilet 

 

Eligible Toilets

York Region has selected the WaterSense® guidelines for use in York Region's Water for Tomorrow toilet rebate program for multi-unit residential buildings. The WaterSense® guidelines are the most stringent in their water efficiency and waste removal requirements. This will provide multi-unit residential buildings with the most proven water saving-fixtures on the market.

The WaterSense® guidelines require that:

  • Single flush toilets have a flush volume less than or equal to 4.8 litres 
  • Dual flush toilets have:   
      1. A full flush volume of less than or equal to 6.0 litres
      2. A reduced flush volume of less than or equal to 4.1 litres 
    • Both single flush and dual flush toilets clear a minimum of 350 grams of waste 
    • Both single flush and dual flush toilets must have a sustainable flush design 

    Toilets must be WaterSense® certified to be eligible for a rebate in York Region.

    You have the option of pre-registering for the rebates if you would like to ensure your eligibility before proceeding with the purchase and installation of toilets.

    To pre-register for the Water for Tomorrow multi-unit residential toilet rebate program, please click here and have the following information available:

    • Contact name and telephone number
    • Service address of installation (MUST be within York Region)
    • Identify the type of building (i.e. condominium, apartment, townhouse, co-op/other)
    • Number of units within the building
    • Number of existing toilets
    • Number of proposed replacement toilets
    • Projected start date for installation of new toilets

    On-site verification of replacement products will be required following the installation of the proposed fixtures.

    Step 2

    Online: Complete the online application; upload a scanned copy of your valid proof of purchase (sales/installation invoice) and a copy of the most recent water bill

    Mail-in: Download and print a copy of the application form. Complete the form and forward the form and a copy of your valid proof of purchase (sales/ installation invoice) and a copy of the most recent water bill to:

    Step 3

    Allow York Region to conduct a site verification of a minimum of 10 per cent of the installations randomly chosen in each of the buildings.

    Track your rebate status

    Check your rebate status online with our 24 hour self serve website. If you used the mail-in option, please allow 4 weeks for us to receive and process your submission before attempting to check your status. Our call centre is also available during regular business hours at 1-866-828-3271.
