How to read the clothes washers lists

The lists are organized alphabetically by manufacturer, then by model number.  To qualify for a rebate please ensure the clothes washer's model number is on the list.

Please note the following:

  • Symbols: An asterisk (*), plus sign (+), or pound sign (#) indicates that one or more coding variables may be used by the manufacturer in place of the symbols to indicate a colour or feature that does not affect washer efficiency
  • MEF = Modified Energy Factor, an indicator of energy consumption during a complete laundry cycle.  It considers the energy used to run the clothes washer, heat the water, and run the dryer (if features included).  The higher the MEF, the more energy efficient the clothes washer.  ENERGY STAR® qualified clothes washers must have a minimum MEF of 56.6.
  • WF = Water Factor, a measurement of water efficiency during a complete laundry cycle, calculated as litre of water used per litre of washer's capacity.  The lower the WF, the more water efficient the clothes washer.  ENERGY STAR® qualified clothes washers must have a maximum WF of 0.8.
